The last century has seen fashion developing with the human population’s breakthrough of societal restrictions and perceptions. Fashion has always been linked to expression, making it a tool for expressing an individual’s ability to stand out from the crowd, or to make a style statement. With different wardrobe choices for each aspect of life, say, work/home/leisure, fashion has always stated its own statement, which is generally considered appropriate to each setting.

This would be a prelude to the question as to which period had the best fashion, because, owing to the fact that fashion, especially women’s fashion, has not only evolved to suit the feminism approach to life, but also the community’s focus at that time. Fashion trends have changed owing to societal stereotypes, war times, industrial revolutions, and economic standards across the globe. Also, it doesn’t help that each society, based on their cultural background, have their own fashion statements, which have also evolved over time. It would be debatable to see which period had the best fashion, because the bottom-line is that fashion is a form of expression and the right to free expression is still under the radar of authorities in many countries.
