What physical properties of soil are important to us
Answers
Answer:
Physical Properties of Soil:-
- Physical properties of soil include density, temperature, color, texture, structure, porosity and air.
- The colors of soil changes from place to place. They indicate some properties like water, redox conditions and organic matter of the soil.
- Physical properties such as soil texture, density, structure are related to the types of soil and their arrangement.
Soil Texture:
Soil texture refers to the proportion of sand, silt, and clay-sized particles creates the mineral fraction of the soil. Sand and silt are not important to the soil because they don’t contribute to restore water and nutrients in soil.
Absorption of Water:
Soil has ability to absorb and restore the water because of its porosity. Water holding capacity varies with the types of soils. Sandy soil has less water holding capacity than clay soil and loamy soil. Clay soil can hold more water than that of sandy soil.
Soil Color:
Soils are of different colors depending on oxidized or ferric iron compounds present in them. The dark colored soil has more organic content. The red color of the soil shows the presence of iron oxide and The black colored soil has rich in minerals and humus.
