What plan did the company make to bring an end to the mughal dynasty?

That was all a imperialistic policy.


Actually during the time of Canning it was declared that no successor of ZAFAR will be allowed to claim the throne. Therefore the company made them to renunciate the throne.


Mughals were gradually feebled and were left with no other option.


Further that declaration caused resentment in Indian masses resulting it as a cause of the struggle of 1857.

after the death of Bahadur Shah Zafar,

the family of the king would be shifted out of the Red

Fort and given another place in Delhi to reside in. In

1856, Governor-General Canning decided that Bahadur

Shah Zafar would be the last Mughal king and after

his death none of his descendants would be recognised

as kings – they would just be called prince.
