Answer:
The prisoners had a plan for escape. The plans were based on a study of a book called, Murray's Book of Travel for India, Pakistan, Burma and Ceylon. Going through it, WG CDR Harish Sinhji, also the author of the chapter, found several sketch maps, one of which was of Rawalpindi, Peshawar and beyond to the Khyber Pass. On other words, freedom lay beyond the barbed wire.
They broke out of the prison camp by making a hole in the rear wall of Cell No. 4. Also the scraping and breaking out of the prison had went successfully, resulting in their success of breakout from prison.
