Explanation:

Boiling point is the temperature at which the vapour pressure of liquid becomes equal to the vapour pressure of the environment or system. So, while measuring the boiling point of water the following precautions should be taken.

1. There should not be any impurity in the water. As the presence of any impurity will affect the boiling point.

2. The boiling point should be measured at STP.

3. Thermometer bulb should be kept 4 to 5 centimeter above the water surface.

4. To avoid bumping of water, pieces of pumice stone should be added.

5. Heating should be done by revolving the flame.
