what precautions do you take observing the nucleus in cheek cells

1. Put a drop of methylene blue or other stain on the slide. 
2. Gently scrape the inside of your cheek with the flat side of a toothpick and stir the end of the toothpick into the stain to create a smear. 
3. Place a coverslip onto the slide.
4. See that the wacht glass is sterile and without any dust particles

. ♦ do not scrap the cheek too hard as it may cause injury

. ♦ excess stain should be [taken] drained off.

. ♦ care should be taken to avoid air bubbles under the cover slip.

. ♦ scrapped material should be spread uniformly on the slide.

. ♦discard the toothpick properly after scrapping.
