Proper personal hygiene, sanitation and cleanliness helps prevent attacks by germs and, thereby, keeps diseases away. By proper personal hygiene, one refers to oral and physical hygiene. Brushing one's teeth and having bath are absolutely necessary. So also is it necessary to have good and healthy sanitation habits. The house and surroundings ought to be cleaned regularly, stagnant water must not be allowed to settle anywhere around and rubbish cleared every day. These measures prevent flies and mosquitoes from breeding; hence, keeps diseases like malaria, dengue etc away. It is better to prevent diseases by taking these steps, rather than getting infected and looking around for cure.
