I think you are deluding yourself a little here because if you really did want to go to this family function you would find a way to make up the time by getting up earlier, studying more in the evening. Where there is a will there is a way. You can also talk to your family members and find a compromise by going to the actual marriage ceremony but leaving earlier during the following celebrations. It seems to me you are not so bothered about going, and more upset that your family will be upset rather than looking forward to attending the function.
