• Scientist, educator, and politician Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam represented India as president from 2002 to 2007. He was nurtured at Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, where he was born on October 15th, 1931. He attended Madras Institute of Technology to study aerospace engineering.
• He had always wanted to fly for the air force, but his dream never came true. He began working for the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) before being transferred to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).
• There, he oversaw the development of India's first satellite launch vehicle, the SLV-III, which was used to successfully place the Rohini satellite in low-Earth orbit in July 1980. He developed the Polar satellite launch vehicle with success. He oversaw the ballistic missile development projects Devil and Valiant as well.
• I'd want to see a film about Abdul Kalam's life and his simplicity.
