Let principle be ₹a
Amount =₹496
Time = 6 yrs
Rate =4%

Simple interest = p x r x t /100
= a x 6 x 4 /100
= 24 a /100

Amount = SI + p
= 24a/100 + a
=(24a+a)/100
= 25a /100
=a/4

ATQ
a/4= 496
a=496*4
a= 1984

Hope you got that

monasharma270038: but answer is 400
sirfria: Is it so
nitish0062: my answer is also 400 p for principle
nitish0062: you have made a mistake which 24p/100 +p=124p/100
sirfria: Ooopss
sirfria: Sorry and thanks for correcting
