There are many problems which people might face in unfolding the meaning of a poem.

Firstly this depends on the experience and or practice of a person as to how much they know about this.

Secondly, problems could include difficulty in understanding certain meaning, i.e vocabulary words.

There could be problems in understanding metaphors or exemplifications, personifications, hyperbole, similies, etc.

There are other things such as old writing uses old english, words like 'thy' 'thou' , etc. those type of words are also not common now a days so that might create problems as well.

So all of these create problems in understanding the meaning of a poem

Thanks for asking. I hope i helped.

While unfolding the meaning of a poem, it is first necessary to know in what context the author has written the poem.

Many times there is no direct reference available.

So one has to identify the context or background in which the poem had been written and then try to identify the meaning.
