Answer:

Take a broad bowl and mix equal parts of baking soda and water in it.

Mix the contents well so that you get a very thick paste. Baking soda contains properties that work well in getting rid of rust, dirt, and grime.

You can add a few drops of lemon juice to this mixture if you want a more effective rust-removal paste.

Apply the paste in generous doses on the rust-affected areas of your cycle directly.

Ensure you use a brush to apply the paste to avoid the mess on your hands. Since baking soda and lemon juice contain acidic properties, it may create an itching sensation in your hands, if you have sensitive skin.

Allow the paste to settle down on the rusty areas for about 15 minutes. This will give enough time for the paste to act on the rust and break it off the rust particles.

After 15 minutes, scrub off the paste using a steel wool pad or a good-quality plastic scrubber. You will notice that the rust breaks easily and comes off your cycle with a lot of force. Don’t have scrubbing pads? Don’t worry, you can substitute them with old toothbrushes.

If there are traces of baking soda still left on the rust particles, leave them on for about 10 more minutes before you wipe off the paste completely with a soft microfiber cloth.

Explanation:

Step 1: Stand the bike. Place the bike on the stand.

Step 2: Apply WD-40 Smart Straw Multi-Use. Spray the rust-proofing lubricant directly onto your bike – make sure you do not spray the product on the tyres or any braking surfaces.

Step 3: Leave to dry. Leave the product to dry for ten minutes.
