we can measure lengths in many ways like in km,mi,m,cm etc.

If we always measure lengths in meters we can find few problems

1. we should write lengthy values for large lengths .

2.subtitution will be hard.

If all lengths were measured in metres only​, then we will face the following problems -

• There are many larger length units also which are bigger than the metre unit. Such as, kilometres, light-years and many more. Now,if we only measure in the metres unit, the numerical value of the lengths of larger units will be huge and the calculations with these large numerical values will become a serious problem.

• Similarly,there are smaller units also. Such as, centimetre, millimetres and many more. If we use the metre units for the smaller lengths,we will get a much smaller fractional values which are also very problematic to deal with.
