There was no printing press in those days so scribes copied manuscripts by hand. Manuscript copying is not an easy job.

Writing a manuscript is an art of science...

Publishing is a kind of documentation to be used for further advancement in research. If it is not documented, it is equal to not being done; this statement itself highlights the importance of documentation/publishing in the field of scientific research. The word "RESEARCH" itself is self-explanatory and it is defined as searching the elements from the existing galaxy. So every researcher is searching for something in the existing galaxy and the person who documents/publishes first will get credit. The process of documentation started in the Neolithic human period itself. They used to make symbols and identification marks when they moved from one place to another and those markings are identifiable till date. We see written scripts in rock temples, pyramids and ancient cultural centers; through this, we can now understand the lifestyle of ancient culture and civilization. From Neolithic to modern humans, the most common unchanged character observed is documentation; but the way of documentation has been changing from time to time. In the modern era, publication is one of the most powerful tools for documentation. Electronic publication plays a major role in the field of science and medicine.
