The only option to sustainable development is non-sustainable development which ultimately ends with an extinction of some kind.
Nothing is sustainable when individual humans are hoarding or wasting assets required to make whatever doing doable. Nothing is sustainable if natural growth processes are interfered with or harvested beyond normal limits. Over fishing is an example of this ‘problem’.
Humans have the technology to easily eliminate any link in a sustainable system and cause the whole hierarchy to become extinct, which can be a problem when all decisions are made by the one human at the top of a food chain. When everyone has an option to do the right social thing, most will do it. Individual commitment and independent action are required to make this possible.
