Answer:
Many of the common phenomena of weather: clouds, frost, fog, and rain – are due to the cooling of air and the consequent condensation of excess water vapor. The first of these is dew and fog. ... Both phenomena develop from the cooling of air by contact with the Earth's surface.

Problems of poor visibility and accidents can cause serious problems due to fog, dew and frost.
- The ground and other surfaces are often wet and gleaming in the sunshine when we awaken after a chilly, cloudless night. Dew, a kind of condensation, is the root cause of this.
- This happens whenever a surface, like the ground, cools down to a point where condensation forms in the air directly above it. Water droplets start to develop on the surface as a consequence of this.
- Fog may be created by essentially the same mechanism, thus it can be difficult to forecast when dew and fog will coexist. Although it is possible to have dew without fog, fog cannot exist without dew.
- A quiet, clear night, high relative humidity near the ground, and low relative humidity above are the optimum circumstances for dew.
- Because there aren't any clouds, the earth may dissipate a lot of the heat it has absorbed during the day and cool down enough for condensation to happen.
- The moist layer of air at ground level assures that condensation will only occur on or near the earth's surface. A thicker layer of wet air is necessary for fog.
