1) Indigo could be cultivate only on fertile land .because all area densely populated, this resulted in difficulty in the expansion of the area under nij cultivation.

Hence the planters attempted to lease in the land around the indigo factory and evict the peasants from the area. But this always led to conflicts and tension. (ii) Labour force was not easily available. so nij cultivation failed
