The main reason behind both deforestation and soil erosion is the human activities.

To start with, the need of more agricultural land has led to a lot of deforestation. Deforestation is basically the situation when trees are cut on a large scale. This explains that the process of urbanization mainly is responsible for deforestation.

Having said that, it is also responsible for increased erosion. A simple fact can be quite to justify this. Trees have the capacity to decarrse erosion as they can omit the speed of the water. In the absence of trees, the soil would be more vulnerable and in return there would be more soil erosion.
