what process you follow in your laboratory to study presence of starch in leaves

First v boil the leaf in water n then in alcohol. 
Then v add iodine solution to it. Areas which turned blue black would consist of starch and the areas which won't would not have starch

Starch is a non- reducing sugar synthesized and stored in amylo-plasts in plants.

The starch in the leaves on reaction with iodine solution (orange-brown) forms blue-black colored solution.

The blue- black color is formed by entrapment of tri-iodide in starch.
