Explanation:

There are usually three stages of substances are solid, liquid, and the gas. As a solid is heated it changes to liquid, here there is an increase in kinetic energy of a particles which results in non-rigidity of the material.

Also, the molecules move faraway from each other, hence the volume of particle increases. On heating, a liquid the kinetic energy of the particles further increases and they become even less rigid and volume increases further.
