Glycolysis involves the breaking down of a sugar (generally glucose, although fructose and other sugars may be used) into more manageable compounds in order to produce energy. The net end products of glycolysis are two Pyruvate, two NADH, and two ATP (A special note on the "two" ATP later).

carbohydrate breaks down in pyruvate to give energy. this is called glycolysis.

this process gives energy in the form of ATP. this can be done in the presence or absence of oxygen.

in the presence of oxygen it gives lot of energy whereas it gives ethanol and less amount of energy in the absence of oxygen.

some times there is muscles cramps in our body when we do lots of exercises or any other works this is due to the formation on lactic acid due do insufficient supply of oxygen in our muscles.

I think it will be helpful for you.
