The father of constitution Dr.BR Ambedkar felt the need for Dalit representative for country..and demanded Dalits will choose their own representative from their community..Gandhi felt it could affect the unity of country..so at Poona pact he forced Dr.Ambedkar by fasting for 10 days..so a decision was made for reservations for SC/ST's and OBC's
