What prompted the rani of jhansi to revolt against the british?

the British wanted to rule on India they wanted to take her fort .earlier there was the Doctrin of lapse rule in this rule if the if the king is dead then then the hair will be sit on the chair means the (sinhasan ) in Hindi but the Rani Lakshmibai have no child so she had adopted the child so the Britishers where against her because according to the doctrine of lapse only the hair can seat on sinhasan .adopted child cannot sit on the chair(sihasan).but Rani Lakshmi Bai was against that .and she don't want it that the Britishers would rule on the country India .
