Man is a social being. He has feelings towards his fellow beings. The values of love, compassion and sacrifice prompt people to support a stranger. Man has feelings of empathy with others where he can feel the pain and sorrow of others.

Life is always changing for everyone. Nobody is immune from troubles. We do not know when a trouble may approach us. A rich man can become a pauper and a pauper can become very rich. So the idea that one day we may have to go through the same suffering and may also need help, prompts people to help strangers in times of need.

Another reason why we support a stranger is that we are all interdependent. If one person suffers the family suffers. If a family suffers the society has to go through suffering. So if we help individuals to be happy the society will be happy. If the society is happy we will be able to live a happy life because we are a part of society.
