What public speaking practices do you think should be practices more in class? Why?

A favorite assignment for me in public speaking was impromptu.

This assignment could be a question or a topic (often random) and the student may have little time to formulate a response and deliver said response as eloquently and intelligently as possible.

I thrived on these particular assignments. I especially enjoy taking the opposing position to the topic and arguing that. Though I didn't agree with what I said, I enjoyed the opportunity to present it favorably as if I really believed in it.

I submit that impromptu speaking is great preparation for honing one's interview skills. This may prove beneficial in college and career opportunities.
