hi there,

Diode - only conducts one polarity of an AC signal.

capacitor forms a time constant with the resistor load.

In electronic circuits, resistors which is called as resistance are used to reduce current flow, adjust signal levels, to divide voltages, bias active element..

Capacitor - stops DC (battery voltage) and allows AC (signal). Inductor - stops AC (eg high frequency interference) and conducts DC. Diode - only conducts one polarity of an AC signal. Often used in Power Supplies and current diverters.
