THE CROPS WHICH ARE SOWN DURING WINTERS ARE CALLED RABI CROPS. THEY ARE ALSO CALLED WINTER CROPS. THEY LAST FROM NOVEMBER TO APRIL.

THE CROPS WHICH ARE SOWN DURING RAINLY SEASON ARE CALLED KHARIF CROPS. THEY ARE ALSO CALLED SUMMER CROPS. THEY LAST FROM JUNE/JULY TO SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER.

EXAMPLE OF RABI CROPS-- POTATO , BARLEY ETC. AND EXAMPLE OF KHARIF CROPS -- PADDY , JOWAR , ETC......

kharif crops-the crops which are grown in the period of july to october,during south-west monsoon.the word kharif means autumn in arabian.
ex-rice,maize,sorghum,ragi etc.

rabi crops-the cropes which are cultivated in the period of october to march.rabi,in arabian means spring.
ex-wheat,barley,oats,gram,chickpeas etc.
