Answer:

There are 2 different types of absorption.

Explanation:

There is physical absoption and chemical absorption. This type of adsorption is also known as physisorption. It is due to weak Van der Waals forces between adsorbate and adsorbent. This type of adsorption is also known as chemisorption. It is due to strong chemical forces of bonding type between adsorbate and adsorbent. Adsorption of gas on a solid is a spontaneous exothermic reaction. Amount of heat liberated when a unit mass of a gas is adsorbed on the surface is called heat of adsorption.

1.Activated charcoal is used for removing colouring matter from solutions of sugar and other organic liquids such as oils etc. Fuller's earth can also be used for removing undesirable colouring/adsorbing matter from liquids/solutions.

2.For desiccation or dehumidification : These substances can be used to reduce/remove water vapours or moisture present in the air.

3.b poisonous gases (e.g. oxide of sulphur etc.) and thus purify the air for breathing.
