Plants produce oxygen during photosynthesis while carbon dioxide during respiration as waste products which can be released outside through root cell walls, stomata and other routes. The excess water absorbed from roots is also lost through stomata via transpiration.

EXCRETION IN PLANTS :

  • Carbon dioxide is released through stomata.
  • Oxygen is removed through photosynthesis.
  • Excess water is removed through transpiration.
  • Plants remove waste through dead cells and tissue and use some parts such as leaves.
  • Waste products are also stored in cellular vacuoles.
  • Some wastes are also stored in leaves and branches.
  • Some wastes are also released as rasins and gums specially in old xylem
  • Plants also excrete some waste substance into the soil around them.
