TRANSITIVE VERB

transitive verb require an object to complete the meaning.

For example if we say
"I bought"

This sentence is incomplete there is information that is missing.

It is a incomplete sentence because transitive verb needs an OBJECT after it to complete the sentence. The object after VERB can be noun or pronoun.

"I bought a car" now it is a complete sentence.

Transitive VERB always ask "WHAT?" or "WHOM"
● What did you bought? -- I bought a car
● Whom did she invited? -- She invited Garcia

For active sentence= SUBJECT+TRANSITIVE VERB+OBJECT

For passive sentence=SUBJECT+WAS/WERE+TRANSITIVE VERB + OBJECT

EXAMPLES>>>>
●They sold some books(active)
●Some books were sold(passive)

INTRANSITIVE VERBS

These VERBS cannot have a direct object after them.

The subject is doing the action of the verb and nothing receives the action. An INTRANSITIVE VERB does not pass the action to an object.

●He arrived

Here we cannot have the object after the intransitive VERB Arrive.
●He arrived around midday

EXAMPLES>>>>>
●Your baby cries a lot.
●The rain fell heavily.
●She sneezed loudly.

Answer:

A transitive verb is a verb in which an action takes on a direct object.

Examples:

1. Kila conveyed the message.

2. I admire your honesty.

An intransitive verb can be defined as a verb that does not take a direct object.

Examples:

1. She sang.

2. He laughed.
