What rational number should be:
a. added to 2/3 to get -4/11 ?
b. subtracted from 3/8 to get 7/9 ?​

Answer:

let the rational number added to 2/3 be x.

then,

 \frac{2}{3}  + x  = \frac{ - 4}{11} \\ x =  \frac{ - 4}{11} -  \frac{2}{3}  \\ x =   \frac{ - 12 - 22}{33}  \\ x =  \frac{ - 34}{33}

so, -34/33 should be added to 2/3

to get -4/11.

let the rational number subtracted from 3/8 be x.

so your answer will be

-29/72.

I think you can easily work it out as I have done it before.
