What reaction takes place between Cesium and water that makes it react so violently?

Cesium is a metal

We know that

Metal + water = base +hydrogen gas

And it belongs to 1A group elements that is alkali metals

All the elements in this group reacts violently with cold water it is because they are highly electropositive elements that is they can easily loose one electron.

And it is "displacement reaction "
