British introduced important social reforms in the country. For example, the Bengal Sati Regulation Act was passed in 1829, declaring the practice of Sati Illegal. They also passed the Widow Remarriage Act in 1856. This reform received , mixed responses from Indians. While educated Native Americans (Indians) welcomed these reforms,, conservative Indians considered these reforms as interference made by British in Indian. And then The Indians criticized the British for passing these reforms.
