Teacher is someone who put his best to bring out best in you, give everything he knows infact I would say teacher are the most selfless people.

Coming to the question role of teacher varies from student to student and teacher to teacher.

Their are some traits that we can find in good teacher -

Instructor - For some, teachers are an instructor who instructs him how to do each step.Guide -  For some he is like guide who lead you towards your destination.Friend  - He is someone who will always be their in all your ups and down and have confident in you.Mentor - He completely knows you.  Your high points, some of your lower points. He is the one who will make you strong enough to take your decision.Motivator - He is the one who possess true capabilities to inspire you , motivate you towards your work and achieving your goals.Listener  - A good teacher always listen to his student. This definitely decreases the gap between student and teacher as student know he have someone to listen him.Guardian - A true teacher is like a guardian he cares for his students and do every possible thing he could do.                          and the list continues..
