Maximilien Robespierre (1758 – 1794) was an influential, radical Jacobin leader during the French revolution.
He was a member of the Committee of Public Safety, of the Revolutionary government, during this period. He was outspoken for the cause of the poor. He argued for cheaper basic food commodities, abolition of slavery in French colonies, among other activities. He was however, ousted from his position and executed in 1794.
