What role did miss Smith play in honing James talent (miss Smith and the black Pearl )
Answers
Answer:
miss smith painstakingly imparted the mysteries of spellings and sums and taught the children how to draw and read stories. she also took the whole school for musical movement and drama. it was then that miss smith came into her own.
in her black leotard and tights, she stood before rows of students on the creaking boards of the hall, like a tiny beacon, back arched, arms outstretched and willed, coaxed, and practically hypnotised them to dance.
And they responded. they hung their arms out like branches in a wind, kicked their legs, swung their hips and forgot that they would not be eating lunch and Mum wouldn't be home that night till eight o'clock.
James Ogori came to Penrose Road School when he was nine and it was obvious straight away that he was special. there was more zest in his movements, more rhythm in his steps. It wasn't just his body dancing, but his heart and mind too.
the better he became, the more demanding Miss Smith was. Her eyes were bright and they glared at him, willing James Ogori to do the impossible. this helped shape James' dancing.
Miss Smith also paid for James' dance classes as his mother could not raise even a penny extra for him as she had four sons and a husband to take care of.
When Mrs Ogori consulted Miss Smith and told her that James Ogori wanted to go to London and continue his dancing there, Miss Smith merely told that "He will never let you down. Let him go to London if that's what he wants. It's what he was born for." this allowed James to go an and become on of the greatest dancers.
