Rivers are possibly the lifelines for civilization.

Ever since humans began hunting for resources, they found it difficult to walk miles to get water and come back to gather their resources. Back then, humans were hunters and gatherers.

After, when civilizations slowly developed, they had an epiphany. What if instead of traveling long distances to obtain resources, they could simply build houses and shelters around the banks of the rivers?

And that's what they did. They made huts and houses with the resources they had. Which is why if you visit the Indus Valley or your local museum, you can find out several artefacts obtained from these river valley civilizations.

I know this answer is loosely packed but this is just for your understanding.
