Syed Ahmed Barelvi was an Indian Islamic revivalist whose central purpose was to establish a Muslim state in the Peshawar region but his dream was not able to be fulfilled after his death in the Balakot region in a battle against Sikhs.
The Role Of Syed Ahmed Barelvi Played In Opposing The Sikhs Were:-
- Syed Ahmad was formulating plans for attacking Attock which is a historical city that is located in the north of Pakistan's Punjab Province
- He initiated the famous Jihad movement or Mujahedeen Movement which was against Sikhs.
- He faced an army of 35,000 Sikhs near Okara.
- His Pathan chief name Yar Muhammad Khan was paid off by the Sikhs and so Syed Ahmad Barelvi was betrayed by his own Pathan chief.
- The first attempt of Yar Muhammad Khan was to poison Syed Ahmad.
- Then Yar Muhammad Khan abandoned the battlefield with his troops which resulted in turmoil and violence and thus Syed Ahmad was defeated.
- Yar Muhammad Khan was later murdered by the Mujahideen as his brother waged a battle against him.
- Syed Ahmad didn't want continual campaigning so he moved his armies to Balakot which was safeguarded by mountains on all sides but later again Syed Ahmad was betrayed by a local leader who instructed the Sikhs on the way to get through the mountains.
- Sikhs made an alarming attack and Syed Ahmad was killed.
