A type of specialized cells that cause destruction to the harmful microorganisms that invade the blood of an organism is known as macrophages. The main role is to invade the bacteria that invade the blood. Macrophages originate from blood monocytes and keep patrolling every single tissue for pathogens to kill them.

Other than hunting down pathogens it releases some sort of inflammatory signal to stimulate the immune system.
