1) In India, equality plays an important role as it recognizes every person as equal. This refers that every individual in the country including male and female persons from all castes, religions, tribes, educational and economic backgrounds are recognized as equal.
2) Constitution of India has given certain provisions for equality of citizens. In the first place, every person is equal before law. Whoever it may be, whether the person is the President of a country or a labour, has to obey the laws
3) Secondly, no person can be discriminated on the basis of religion, race, caste, gender etc.
4) Every person has access to all public places including playgrounds, hotels, shops, markets etc. All persons can use wells, roads, bathing ghats, rivers etc that are available publicly
5) Untouchability has been abolished. Thus through laws, government principles, policies and programmes, equality is established in our country and various communities are treated with dignity here
