When a fielder catches the ball the friction between the hands and ball helps the ball to stop. when the cricketer run they need a good grip between shoes and the field, other than gravity ,friction provides a good footing they need. and when a batsman hit the ball after some distance it stops .While playing football friction helps our feet to stable on ground, take kicks without slipping and run easily on playing surface. It also helps the goalie grab on to the ball and for players to take throw ins and headers.
