What role does transpiration play in upward movement of water from roots to leaves ?

here u find that water being absorbed the root needed to be pulled upward but its only possible in short plants like grass but in high plants transpiration is necessary because due to transpiration a pull is created upon the xylem tissue and hence this pull helps water in tall plant to reach high.
