According to life history of Buddha, his teachings were spread in two ways :-
1)By the collection of books called Jatakas and Tripitikas .
2)By certain pupils of Buddha.
3) By certain rulers.
Among the rulers, the most prominent were Samrat Ashoka and King Kanishka.
