That the emperor would shortly command the army to fire upon the civilians, is the right answer.

There was a different scene in Paris on the Morning of July 14, 1789. The king directed its force to move into the city.  Rumors flowed that he would shortly command them to fire upon the residents. Therefore, around 7000 people organised an army and destroyed the governmental building in search of arms. Another group of people attacked the fort jail of Bastille in the hope to find saved ammunition. Thereon a fight took place in which the chief of Bastille was murdered and seven hostages were re-leased. The Bastille was rebelled by all as it persisted for the absolute authority of the emperor. It was destroyed and its remnants were traded as relics.
