Cotton is one of the most important fibre crops. It is tropical and subtropical crop. It yields fibres which are used by the textile industry. Cotton fibre is classified according to it's length- short, medium and long staple cotton. It requires a temperature of about 25°C during the growing period and about 75cm of rainfall. Black lava soil is ideal for its growth. It also grows well in alluvial soil.
