Stomata is any of the minute pores in the epidermis of the leaf or stem of a plant, forming a slit of variable width which allows movement of gases in and out of the intercellular spaces.

Hope it helps :)

stomata are the tiny pores present at the surface of the epidermal leaves. the stomata helps in transpiration and in exchange of gases. the opening and the closing is due to the help of the guard cells which are also called the kidney shaped cells. when the amount of water is high in the stomata the guard cells swell up and help in the opening of the stomata. and conversely when there is less amount of water in the stomata the guard cells shrinks and helps in the closing of the stomata. the stomata contains some moisture. for example desert plants do not open their stomata in the daytime and only open the stomata during the night time to avoid the loss of moisture in the in present in stomata.
