What’s the answer?

A flag of Trinidad and Tobago has the dimensions shown. The White stripes have the width 1.5 cm. Find the area of the flag. Find the area of: a Red triangle, a white stripe. Hence find the area of the black stripe.

Solution :-

a)

→ Area of flag = Length * Breadth = 30 * 50 = 1500 cm²

b)

→ Area of red triangle = (1/2) * Base * height = (1/2) * 30 * 33 = 495 cm²

→ Area of white stripe = Length * Breadth = 44.6 * 1.5 = 66.9 cm² .

so,

→ The area of the black stripe = Area of flag - 2(Area of red triangle + Area of white stripe)

→ The area of the black stripe = 1500 - 2(495 + 66.9)

→ The area of the black stripe = 1500 - 2 * 561.9

→ The area of the black stripe = 1500 - 1123.8

→ The area of the black stripe = 376.2 cm² .
