Only thing you need to do is,
-understand the mechanism of that reaction,
-remember exceptions.
-refer to previous question papers
-read your self before your teacher explains that topic.
-Interact with your teacher..Try to understand what method/way your teacher follows to solve/ attempt a question.

First of all, just read NCERT books for at least 2-3 times. NCERT has lots of information which most of the students generally miss out in case of not reading them. Just read every chapter carefully and try each of the problems given in the exercises of all chapters.
