Answer:
• The difference between a meteor and a meteorite is the difference in their respective sizes, in which meteors are smaller and meteorites are larger.
Explanation:
• In space, particularly between Mars and Jupiter there is an asteroid belt in which large rocky bodies floats around. This rocky bodies made up of ice and rocks are called as Asteroids.
• These asteroids keeps colliding with each other and it breaks into smaller particles constantly.
• When the broken pieces of these asteroids enters the earth surface and are smaller than asteroids themselves, they are called meteorites.
• When they enter the earth's upper atmospheric levels, the friction between the gases present in the atmosphere burns them into smaller pieces, particularly in size of small rocks are called as meteorites.
• But in vast majority of times these pieces are very small, and when they enters the earth's atmosphere the friction burns them off, and only small pebble like structures are only left. This very small rock particles are called as Meteors.
Answer:
Meteor: if a meteoroid enters the earth atmosphere and vaporizes,it becomes a meteor, which is often called as shooting star.
Meteorite: if a small asteroid or a large meteor ride survives it's fiery passage through the earth atmosphere and lands on the earth surface, then it is called as meteorite.
