What's the difference between a past tense verb and passive verb? I'm a bit confused.

in passive sentence subject becomes the object and object becomes the subject.
∆ past tense sentence:
◆he was playing pubg
∆passive voice:
◆ pubg was played by him.
therefore,
playing become played.
